Spindle is where jsj makes things. That’s Jonas Skaret Johansen, if you’re not into initials.
Why the name? The domain was available.
Sometimes it really is that simple.“The domain was available.” Spindle it is. Naming process: complete.
The spin is made up. The available domain is real.
A few strong feelings.
Serverless?
No thanks.
Managing the servers is part of the fun. SSH, updates, backups, little blinking lights. A perfectly good evening, apparently.
Inertia.
A very good middle.
Server and client, happily under one roof. Less plumbing. More making the thing. spindle/table lives right here.
Too stupid
for React?
React is great. The complexity is less exciting. And, honestly, this isn’t Facebook.
Alpine keeps the small stuff simple. When things get more involved, Vue or Svelte gets the call. A perfectly happy arrangement.
And another thing…
Deleting code counts as progress.Sometimes the best feature is a smaller feature.
